About Us

Facilities

Layer Preschool offers childcare for 2-5 year old children in the beautiful village of Layer de la Haye. The children have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of facilities focused on child-led play and exploration. We have various role-play areas, messy play pods, a well-stocked reading corner and a quiet tent. These facilities are rotated on a regular basis, which allows us to continuously offer children a diverse range of learning opportunities.

Alongside independent play there are daily adult-led activities designed specifically around the seven areas of learning. These are all pre-planned in line with our weekly theme and tailored to stimulate all age groups of children.

Our children venture outside daily to explore our fully enclosed garden. Here they can play in our mud kitchen, run through our natural willow and play freely on all equipment. Facilities also include a giant sandpit, a nature area, a playhouse and plenty of ride on cars, bikes and scooters. We utilise the outside space as much as possible and regularly set up activities outside, such as a dinosaur swamp or construction site. We are also in close proximity to beautiful woodland which we visit regularly.

Good Relationships

To enhance personal development we allocate each child one to one sessions with their key worker. This special time allows them to work on individual tasks which are designed specifically to meet individual developmental needs. All activities, achievements and next steps are recorded using an online learning journal called Tapestry. Parents are given logins to enable them to view their child’s progress at any time, parents are also able to upload their own photos and make comments to give us a picture of your child’s learning and activities at home.

At Layer Preschool we understand the importance of home to school relationships. We communicate weekly with parents via our newsletter and our Facebook page. Parents are welcome to spend time in preschool and are invited to attend regular parent partnership mornings and also our annual parents evening. Staff are always on hand to answer any questions our parents may have.
